A New Found Addiction...

Back in early October my ward's Relief Society had an enrichment night where we made these...

The letters are paper mache which we painted, then covered in appropriately printed scrapbook paper to match the holiday, then embellished w/ribbons, buttons, etc. I thought they were super cute and fairly simple, so as Christmas approached, I made me some, all on my own, that read "JOY". (Of course for some strange reason they are a little more put away than my box of Halloween decor, so I don't have a pic of them....sorry) I really enjoyed making them, so I went ahead and purchased the needed materials for 2 more sets and sent one to my mother-in-law, and the other I gave to my mom.

"BOO" & "JOY" weren't enough though. I decided I needed a word for every holiday! I have since made me a "LOVE"...

...and currently have "SPRING" & "FREEDOM" waiting to be all prettied up. Of course this won't finish off my collection, but I can't afford to do them all in one sitting.

A while back I had purchased a "V" & an "S" (for Van Sciver) to do the same sort of thing. I bought them before I knew about the paper mache letters, so these are in flat wood, which I just need to have some hangers mounted on the backs of so that I can hang them on my wall. I just made them up last Friday....

I need to set up a little online store or something so that I can make these to sell. Not sure if they would, but it's always a nice thought!

OK - I'm just reading up on the past blogs (now that I found you - I'm not much of a 'surfer', so glad you found me!) and found this one! LOVE THEM!! Did you buy the letters at Michaels? And was it decoupage that you used to attach the paper? Wish my ward had crafts. :( BOO HOO!!
