What a Day!

Readers discretion advised...the following includes some graphic details and the use of "potty language"...you have been warned!

This morning I took Josiah to work because I had a doctor's appointment scheduled for the boys at 9:30. Camden needed to get 3 shots so that he'd be "up-to-date" for Kingergarten in August. Trenton...well, he never exactly had his newborn shots, or anything following them. I did attempt to get him started on them sometime early last year but when the 2nd appointment came around for the next round of shots, I completely forgot. I had it on the calendar and everything. The place we go to doesn't make it a priority to do reminder calls the day before. That's ok. I really like the doctor that my kids see, so I haven't found a new place to take them just because I don't get reminder calls.

Anyway, as we're sitting there waiting to be called back, Camden informs me that he feels like he needs to puke. (He woke up last night puking, but I assumed it'd be all good and gone for today.) Had you been someone just sitting there watching him, you'd never have guessed that he wasn't feeling well. It was like he'd eaten sugar cubes for breakfast! He was practically bouncing off the walls there... I asked the lady at the desk if I could take him back into the bathroom and she asks what his age is. (I was afraid maybe they had an age limit/requirement to use their bathroom.) I tell her he's 5 and she lets me know that they need a urine sample. Ugh. I remembered when I took Alyssa in 2 years ago before Kindergarten, how she couldn't get any pee out, and was not excited to have to try and force my child to pee. Well we go in and he stands at the toilet for a minute but no puke was coming out. I then tell him he needs to pee in a cup which of course he thought was funny. I write his name on it and tell him to just "point it in the cup." Almost as soon as that came out of my mouth though I thought, "this is going to spill/splash everywhere" so I instead tell him to just start peeing in the toilet and I'll just "catch it". All is going well until I pull the cup away and I don't know if he stopped paying attention or what, but he pee'd all over my hand and then on the back of the toilet. Great! I clean up the mess, get our hands washed and we exit the bathroom. As we are heading back to the front, the nurse informs me that she's ready for us, so I gather the rest of the kids which I had left at the lobby, and we head back. I was really glad I was able to get the boys in at the same time, so that Trenton could see Camden doing everything and then be happy to do it all himself. I think Camden's favorite part was the vision test. He was thrilled at himself for being able to tell her what each shape was.

Once in the room we got to wait for what seemed like forever. The doctor finally came in and did their check-ups. She got to the part where she had to check their boy parts...she laid them down on the table to feel their stomaches first and from there, they just kept giggling, thinking she was tickling them. After she was done and had them get off the table, Trenton says..."do that again!" And she's like, "I've never had THAT request before...". I'm like "Great! She thinks I've got some sort of perverted child!" So I quickly inform her that "I think they just thought you were tickling them and had no clue that you were even 'examining' them." She seemed to realize that and I was very glad! After she finishes up the nurse comes back in to give them their shots. Camden was very brave and didn't cry at all, after all the concern he had back when I registered him for kindergarten. Trenton did ok til they got to the 2nd arm. He survived though and we left. As a reward for going through this we were going to get some Wetzels Pretzels. (The doctor's office is at the mall.) We head upstairs and just as we are approaching the pretzel joint, Camden starts heaving! UGH! A guy was passing by with what appeared to be some sort of cleaning cart, so I ask him for some paper towels. The puke keeps coming and all this guy has to offer are a couple restaraunt style napkins. I look around and there's NO garbage can that I can see. I'm practically flipping out. Do I just let him stand there and puke on the floor, while it splashes all over his feet? I turn to the guy at Wetzels and ask about a can and he points to one that is hidden around a beam just a few yards away so I quickly pick Camden up and carry him over there and practically shove his head in there. It had gotten all over his shirt, shorts and flip flops. Thankfully the lady in line there was empathetic rather than just making rude faces or something of the like. She informed me that the guy behind the counter had called someone to clean it up and told me not to worry about it. She had a couple of older kids with her and probably has "been there, done that!"

I decide we'll wait on rewarding the boys and we head home. I was supposed to be at my sil, Leslie's at 11 for Cub Scouts, but by this time it's 5 after and I had to run home to change Camden first. I call her up to let her know what's going on and she suggested I just stay home, rather than bringing all my kids and risking the chance her kids would catch it. I was grateful to her for that. Obviously I hadn't intended for any of this to happen and I did feel bad that I wasn't going to be there to help out.

I had Camden get in the bathtub to clean himself up. Shortly after he gets done, I hear Trenton calling me from the bathroom...he went in there to pee and while he's standing there, he apparently needed to do more than just pee and so I walk in and find a turd on the floor behind him. He's done this sort of thing before. I'm trying to teach him that when he needs to go "1" AND "2", he needs to sit. So far that's not quite sticking in his head. Another mess to clean up! YAY!!

Have I mentioned that I've got this cold, too?! I think Josiah gave it to me. I really do appreciate his willingness to "share"....but there are some things that I don't mind him being selfish with! Thank goodness for Dayquil & Benadryl! Hopefully everyone will be well tomorrow so that I can send my kids to Leslie's house and take Josiah out for his birthday!

Speaking of Josiah, I've got to go pick him up now! Until next time....

It's a good thing that mothers are made with iron stomachs. I am sorry your day was so eventful! At least Camden got his shots before he started heaving. Tell him Grandma hopes he feels better soon.

Sounds like a great day. Sorry I didnt want to share the fun with you!!

Cub Scouts was pretty lame...the boys did have fun though so i guess thats all that matters. And I didnt realize I had a 1.5 hours so we were done early and they played the WII for the last 30 mins.

Cleaning up puke is no fun especially when you are out and about. Layna puked inside The Childrens Place. Luckily we got a bag for her to puke into fast enough. She is our little anirexic girl. She pukes all the time but I think she has my family's very sensitive stomach.

Welcome to MY world!! Except in my world it's OTHER people's children peeing, puking, and pooping on me.

Wish Josiah a happy birthday from me since I totally forgot and didn't call. (Then again, I was busy being 3P'd until 8pm so that's a good excuse, right?!)

Aww Sarah! I'm so sorry you had to deal with all of that. Seems you got every bodily function to clean up in one day!

I hope Camden is feeling better.

Every mother reading this can sympathize with you, Sarah. The funnier thing would have been if all this had happened on Josiah's watch.

Man take a day or two off reading and I miss out! I'm laughing, I mean sorry about your day! But you got a break from scouts and sometimes that's exactly what us den leaders need.

Oh. My. Gosh. Poor mom! It's funny for others to read, but not so much for you. On the upside, you had quite the story to blog about!
