Last Day of Summer/First Day of School...& a few other things...

Yesterday was the last day of Summer vacation for my kiddos! I'd like to say that they had the best summer ever, but I'd also like to think we're being honest here...

I don't think "moving" is ever included on a child's "Top 10 things I want to do this summer" list. However, "go swimming every day we possibly can" probably is! So maybe it wasn't TOO bad! We didn't go out of town, but I AM hoping we will be able to atleast head up to Show Low at the end of August. It will depend on what our "money for gas" situation is like.

I think my kids were atleast able to enjoy their last day of summer though. Their cousins spent the day here and of course we went swimming...

Then they came inside and watched Nim's Island....which Rylie and my nephew Landon had to prepare "movie tickets" for, so the other kids could get in.

I told them that if I found any popcorn on the floor when they were done, then I was going to charge them each a dollar for each piece. They did a pretty good job getting it all picked up. They also laughed almost the entire way through the movie.

Today was the first day of school for my kids. It was a fairly rushed morning...making sure there was time for everything...bath for Camden, (the girls showered last night, thankfully!) breakfast, getting the girls hair fixed (curled and into ponytails), teeth brushed, lunches made, Priesthood Blessings, pictures, etc. We were almost to the gate when the first bell rang, so we didn't get to show Camden what a typical morning would be of finding his class # on the ground and setting his backpack down in that spot, etc. But that's ok...we can do that tomorrow when things are not as busy. Here are a few pics...

From trash to treasure...

A couple weeks ago I had gone into my girls room and found this box...

...sitting in there holding some books and binders and stuff. I thought "what a great use for that piece of garbage! Too bad it's not very attractive!" *DING* A light came on! "Why don't we try and cover it in paper and make it look cuter!" So that's just what we did!...

It's one of those things where you picture it in your head but when you sit down to actually do it...you can't figure out how to take that picture out of your head and make it real. So, it's not what I had pictured, but I think it actually turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself! We mod podged it and everything so it's got a nice seal on it. It looks much better hanging out in their room now, than it did a couple weeks ago!

This morning Trenton and I headed over to the church for a little brunch that the sisters in the Relief Society put together. I was very hesitant to go, because I no longer have my sil in the ward to hold my hand through everything. I didn't go to many church related things (besides church) before they moved in. Once she was there, she was like my security blanket, and now that they aren't in the ward...Well I guess I just need to take some steps on my own. I seemed to have survived it and I didn't even spend the hour in the corner curled up in the fetal position! Maybe Josiah and I will even go to the ward party this Friday night! Who knows! We are all sorts of growing up!

Anyway, I think that's a pretty good amount of rambling for one post! Until next time...

Great pics! All of them. I totally remember as a kid (I know that was at least 100 years ago) Aunt Mary and I doing similar things. Not with a movie but still, it made me remember. I hope you continue to attend activities when you can. Love the box. I never in a million years would have thought of doing something like that! You are too clever!

Wow! it looks like they all had a great time...swimming nearly any time you want...what fun... and remember, when you come up, you won't have to spend any money for food! Gas is down right now too, hope it stays that way for a while. Say a prayer for the dadhood, he has a 2nd interview tomorrow. If they offer him the right $ amount, he will be close to home for work (no more driving 100 miles a day).

Sarah-

Thanks for your comments. I too think your children are darling!! So cute. :)And the scrapbook box decorated...so creative and trendy.
I too feel a bit out of place at ward functions, so maybe we should go together. That would be fun :)
I have an ebay account, however I havent purchased anything off of ebay in over a year, so before I sell anything, Im going to have to purchase some items first, so that I can build up my "smiley points" Thanks for the tips though.....I may be coming back to you for some more....
Add me to your list :)

Umm, when you say, "so we didn't get to show Camden what a typical morning would be of finding his class # on the ground and setting his backpack down in that spot, etc" I just have to laugh because isnt that a Typical day? Anyway I just have to harass you because thats my job as your crazy sister in law.

We got nims island now but with all the olympics I can't seem to watch it. Maybe I will watch it soon. But we may have to borrow your office seasons so we can catch up and watch the new season.

Anyway good job on the box, I still have not finished laynas box that I had started...It probably never will since even if I did there is no where to put it...anyway I don't want to be called Jeremy so thats all for now...
