One down...

We managed to survive the first week of school! Hooray!

I like to compare years, so here's last year's first then this year...

There were a couple days that Camden didn't want to get out of bed but other than that, we haven't had many problems. Really. He's been complaining about his teacher being "mean". I have mixed feelings about her myself. She's an older teacher, which isn't my problem. I'm not quite sure what it is about her though. I think I just didn't get a very good impression of her on meet the teacher night. She didn't seem very interactive w/the parents. She talked to Camden but didn't take much time to really talk to Josiah and I which I think kinda bothers me. Anyway, several days after school this week Camden was complaining that he got "yelled" at for doing nothing. I had to explain to him that he just needs to make sure he's staying on task; not talking when she is, looking at her when she's talking, and doing whatever he's supposed to be doing...when he's supposed to be doing it. That way when she "yells" he will know that it's not directed at him. We'll see how that goes.

Hope everyone else survived their first week of school!

Get actively involved in the school and his class so you can make sure your little guy is ok. I waited too long or rather didn't know one of my children was targeted and to this day he resents the teacher and actually I do too. There is no place in a school for kids to get yelled at!!!! I should know ...I teach!

I totally agree! Remember when I went into all 4 of you guys' classes every week? I did it to keep an eye on the teacher as much as to help out. I learned that the children who's parent comes to class once a week, actually do better in school and most of the time don't get into as much trouble. Don't let a Mrs. Wallace happen to any of your children! Look what it did to your brother! That year, I didn't volunteer! Boy do I regret it! Follow your own instincts. You are their mother.

I had a super mean 3rd grade teacher.. Mrs. Diangelo. Josiah probably knows who I'm talking about. She was *awful*, man..she told me there was no such thing as Santa and the Easter Bunny at a time I was questioning it. Childhood destroyed! Hahah But, we both know there IS such a thing as Santa..he just must not have visited her..ya know, being on the naughty list n all. :)

You kids are SO freakin cute! Oh, those darlings!

Wow. Your kids are growing up so fast! You need to start on a new batch to have some at home during the daytime! :)

I'm NOT ready for school yet. But good for you for jumping back into gear! They all look so cute!

Glad you survived your first week of school! That means you'll survive the ENTIRE school year, for me...it will be on a prayer! :)

The kids may be getting older but they're still gorgeous, all of them! I'm so glad I was able to visit last spring.

And *I* remember Mrs. DiAngelo (aka Miss Simpson, wasn't she?) She was also Amanda's kindergarten teacher ("Stop touching my desk!" is one memory I have of her that year), and she was not fit to be anywhere near small children.

If you feel unsure of that woman as a teacher, keep an eye on her.

Cute back-to-school pictures! I LOVE Rylie's haircut! I keep meaning to call you about piano, but I never remember until it's late at night. I miss you guys! Glad to see your cute family is doing well. :)
