Halloween 2008

It's over! Finally! My Halloween shwerve was all thrown off this year. First by our ward Halloween party being a whole week before Halloween. It felt like it should be over after that night. But it wasn't. And then for preschool we had our little Halloween party on Wednesday because we only do preschool Mon & Wed. And it still wasn't over after that day! UGH! To make matters worse, all day Wednesday I kept thinking it was Thursday, and "atleast Halloween will be over after tomorrow"...but NO! I still had to wait TWO DAYS!! UUUUGH!! I don't hate Halloween. Really. I just highly dislike it being dragged out for a WHOLE flippin' week! Atleast the getting dressed up in the costumes and partying like it's my favorite holiday ever. Because lets be honest here. I haven't been given the name "Christmas brat" for nothing! (Thanks, Josiah.) And in my defense, I don't really think I'm a brat just because I like Christmas. It's not like I expect expensive gifts or anything. Maybe Josiah can explain on his blog sometime, why he has given me the nickname.

Rylie as a "Dark Angel"...

Alyssa as s "Sweetheart Bat"...

Camden as a "White Ninja"...

Trenton as "Darth Vader"...

They all had lots of fun Trick-or-Treating! We hit a few houses in our neighborhood and then headed over & met up with my sil, Leslie while she was still out with her kids and finished up our ToT'ing with them, before heading to her dad's house for scones and chili. The scones were, as always, delicious! And very healthy for us no doubt!

My day started out with taking the kids to school. We got there about 10 minutes late so I walked them into the office. Then I had to walk Camden back to the auditorium because his class had already left for the assembly that was underway and I was afraid he wouldn't have a clue where to go.

After checking w/his teacher about party time & making sure Alyssa found her way on the stand to sing w/the honor choir, I left to run by the store to pick up some treats for Rylie's class and a couple more things that I needed.

Around 11 I decided I wanted to dress up somehow. Afterall, Josiah had thrown together a "Clark Kent" costume to wear to work that morning, I knew I couldn't go costumeless. Well, with very little time and no car to run to the store for anything, I went with what I had. My hair. I decided to curl it in tight curls w/my curling iron and go Shirley Temple-esque. So not much, but whatever.

I got to the school around 12:20 and helped Camden get into his costume. The girls had taken theirs with them but I knew they needed help w/a couple things, so I then headed over to their classrooms. First to Rylie's to drop off the cookies. Perfect timing, she was in the bathroom getting dressed right then. I helped w/her wings and tied her dress for her then headed to Alyssa's class to find that she had no problem getting hers done all by herself. Very typical of my little Miss Independent! (I'm amazed at her ability to tie her own dresses and things behind her back!)

After that I headed back up to Camden's class to hang out until the parade. His class was doing Halloween centers, so I helped out with those. Afterwards, Trenton and I found a spot along the wall while we waited for the kids to come by in their costumes. I had planned on going home after that but Alyssa asked oh so sweetly if I could come to her class party which was going to take place after the parade. I had nothing better to do, so I stayed.

By the time school got out, my feet were killing me! I had worn some not so comfy flip flops and couldn't wait to get home to kick them off. Of course, I had walked to the school because I didn't have the car that day, so I had to walk home in them.

Josiah ended up getting home early so we'd be able to get our night started asap.

It was a busy day to say the least. Everyone had fun though! Now we can get started with Christmas! YAY!

I love that pic of you and Siah! Very cute.

And all the kids look darling. It does seem like Halloween got stretched out long this year, doesn't it? Now to get rid of all the candy before I eat it!

Sounds like a marathon Halloween! I'm glad you survived and had the energy to dress up too! I didn't even send my kids to preschool in costume like the rest of the kids. I just didn't want to deal ya know. Cross your fingers for a New Years visit from me :)
