Nothing like a good ol'....

....hair catastrophe to start off your Saturday morning!!

I woke the girls up around 7:30 this morning so they'd have plenty of time to get dressed, eat some breakfast, and practice a little before taking them to their piano lessons. Alyssa jumped up and headed to the piano. I left the room for a few minutes to check on something and then headed back to help her out with one of her songs. As I walk around the corner, Rylie is walking out of the bathroom holding this mess! I have never seen such a tangled mess before!

(Quick back story...I bought each of the kids their own brush last night. I was just going to get the girls each one, but then Camden and Trenton decided they needed one as well. This is the first round brush we've ever had in our home and of course it was the one Camden picked out. We tried to convince him to get a regular one like the others were getting, but he wanted this really cool round one...this is exactly why I don't buy these brushes...and had I thought Rylie would decide to use his, after she had her very own PINK one....)

I literally thought we were going to have to cut it out of her hair and then take her down to have the rest of her hair chopped off! I had Josiah come in to help me out. I held her (she was distraught over the whole thing) while he worked at it for a few minutes. Then he had this clever idea to cut all the bristles off as close to the base as possible. I started at it, bristles flying everywhere. He came back in a few minutes later with what will forever be known as...OUR HERO!!

Josiah's "Juice"...(we didn't name it that, that was actually what this particular model had been named and just so happened to fit perfectly, since that just so happens to be Josiah's nickname that he acquired about 9 years ago somehow at work. A little tidbit of info that I'm sure you all could have gone on living just fine without knowing, but now you do...so there!)

Cutting the bristles wasn't going to be as helpful as we'd thought, because there were still little stubs that were holding the hair in place, so we actually pulled every single bristle out!

Anyway...here are a few more pics of the mess...

The brush....bristle free...

You can see how thrilled she was that I was taking these pictures...She even asked if I was planning on putting this on my blog!! KIDS! To assume such things!!

We were just very glad we didn't have to cut all this off....

Needless to say.....I don't recommend trying this just to see if it's as fun as working a puzzle...IT'S NOT!!

Well, now, haven't I been THERE! I have never thought of pulling out the bristles before, though! That's ingenius! Once, when Lyns was about 4 she was brushing her grandmother's hair and got the brush so stuck that we actually had to cut her hair. So embarrassing! But she was great about it, and called it "layers". Lyns still remembers the horror of it all.

Awww, daddy to the rescue! I remember getting Jenna's round brush stuck in Lyndsay's hair after a bath when she was about 2. It took a bit of working out..but I got it. I also don't think Jenna ever knew about that..

I'm so glad it all worked out for the better in the end! Yay for saving gorgeous hair!

That happened to me awhile back..when the kids were playing with my hair...Jeremy had to come to the rescue but when he was done he was nice enough to sit there and brush it a bit longer.

glad you didnt have to cut her hair off.

Well, Nana was almost in tears with Rylie at the thought of having to cut all that gorgeous hair off short. I don't think I ever would have thought of sacrificing the brush instead. Excellent!

This is one of those moments to never forget. I laughed when you said she asked if you were putting the pics on your blog. I could totally hear your voice - almost as good as being there. Benjamin sucked Abby's hair up in our little battery powered speeper vac the other day and my SIL got her hair tangled in a Kitchen Aid mixer when she was younger and once I caught my hair on fire in my birthday candles! I'm glad Rylie has a story to tell.

oh bummer! I used to twirl my hair with my fingers, and once I got stuck. My Mom had to take me to the barber, and they cut my finger out! yikes.
Good job saving that beautiful hair!
