YAY! I've Been Cured!!

My super awesome husband was able to remove my virus withOUT having to rebuild the whole computer!! YIPPEE!! My biggest fear with him possibly having to rebuild, was the making sure I get everything I want/need, backed up first.

Almost all of my pictures are on my computer and that totally scares me. I've been thinking alot lately that maybe I should get an external hard-drive to back it all up on to. There are way too many to put onto disks. Maybe I should just work on slowly getting them all printed out. Or atleast a few from every occassion. I love having pictures that I can hold in my hands and flip through whenever I want. I mean, don't get me wrong...I love having a digital camera. There would not be nearly as many pictures taken if they all had to be on film. But I do miss that. And then I look up at the bag of 9 rolls of film that are sitting in a ziplock bag on top of my desk, some from 2 years ago, still waiting to be developed! That was my biggest reason for going digital. I have a problem with getting the rolls of film in to be developed. Plus digital has made it much more simple to share pictures with anyone and everyone via the internet. For instance....some pictures from the past couple weeks that have been waiting to make it on my blog but had to wait because of the slowness that the virus caused...In no particular order....

Here is the star Alyssa made that was selected to be on display at the art exhibit. From what I could tell, there were only 2 other stars selected from her school to be on display. It's pretty cool that hers was selected out of all the 1st graders who made them!

Here she is with her Art teacher, Mrs. Pedretti...

I was trying something new with Trenton's haircut, but it didn't work out the way I was hoping, so I ended up buzzing it. Not my favorite hairstyle on my boys, but atleast it's hair and WILL grow back...

This was a picture the girls drew on the back porch a few weeks ago. Rylie was really excited for me to take a picture, hoping I'd blog about it. So here you go, Rylie...I don't think it shows up very well, but it says "I am a child of God." Their cousin Layna helped out with it also.

Alyssa finally got her first wiggly tooth, only it wasn't wiggly for very long before she discovered the new tooth growing in behind it! We gave it a few days and then made several attempts to get it out. We tried fingers, string and even pliers, but that darn tooth was super stubborn! Finally a couple days later it came out at school.

Before...
After...

I made some lasagna for dinner a couple Sundays ago and was proud of myself so I took a pic...of course! It was suuuper yummy! I used both gound beef and ground italian sausage. I didn't make the noodles or the sauce, but this did NOT come out of a box!

I had to take this picture because I thought I looked somewhat decent on this particular day, and I had to capture it on camera...for records sake! Days like this are few and far between anymore. And the kissy face is very important...all the other pics where I just tried smiling were....ew! When I smile, the bags under my eyes are 10 x's their normal size and when I don't make any expression, I look....unpleasant.

Next Tuesday night my girls have a piano recital. I'm a little concerned about Alyssa and not sure what to do. She lacks alot of the self motivation that Rylie has, when it comes to practicing. So often, she ends up in tears because she just does not want to do it and I'm worried that I'm pushing her too much. For the most part, she goes happily to her piano lessons. It's just the practicing. But if she's not practicing, is she really progressing? I try to work with her and help her, but it's soo frustrating to deal with the silliness sometimes. She doesn't take it very seriously and I just don't know what to do. Do I remove her from it for a while? I don't want her to be pushed into doing something she really has no desire to do, and then absolutely hate it when she gets older. The biggest reason I put her in to begin with, was because I was putting Rylie in, and I didn't want Alyssa to not be in anything. Ya know? Aaargh! Any suggestions?

This afternoon I have den meeting. Tonight, I hope to go running down at the high school with the group of girls from the ward that show up. Today or tomorrow I need to take something to the ladies that I visit teach. (Leslie and I are partnered up together for both cub scouts and VT'ing, so atleast we have each other to keep us going on these 2 things.) Next week is my final week to have preschool here at my house! YAY! Hopefully I will get the lesson plans before Sunday night.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Yay for having your computer back! Ours had to go in today because it like..blew up last night. We thought for sure it was going to cost us like $400..but the guy called O like 20 minutes later and basically told him it was just really dirty. Like..*really* dirty. I don't understand that much because I totally use canned air on it all the time. I just give a big shrug to that and carry on. He cleaned it up and tightened the fan or something and now it's back home.

Anyway, I wanted to pass on this lasagna recipe I tried last year and everyone I had over for dinner just about literally licked their plates clean.

I hope that all showed up for you. It takes a bit of time..but is sooooo worth it!

Yay! Sarah's back!!! And look at you hot stuff!! Don't worry I totally do that too. Shoot, I'm the only one who takes pictures. If I don't take any of myself, how will anyone know I even existed?

So glad you were able to "cure" the virus! That lasagna looks delicious. If I actually put the time into making a lasagna, I'd document it too! Love the cute pic of you!!

Hey, Sarah! Can't wait to see you guys in a few weeks! Okay, my 2 cents about piano....yes, push her to keep going. Life is full of things we don't particularly enjoy doing, but that make us better people. Nobody ever learned to play the piano and wished they hadn't. And hardly anybody learns to play without wishing they could stop at some point. I think there is a lot of value in disciplining oneself to do something "hard" that requires daily practice and commitment and then in earning the reward of accomplishment down the road. It's great for self-discipline, for time management, and for stick-to-itiveness, all necessary skills in life. If we let our kids off the hook of every good thing they don't feel like doing or can complain their way out of, then they'd be really crippled adults. Just remove yourself emotionally from her complaining. Tell her, "I'm sorry you feel that way, nevertheless in this home you are required to practice such and such long. You can do it crabby or you can do it cheefully, but you will do it." After some time, most kids break through their plateaus and playing becomes fun again and its own reward. Hope this helps some!
